Israeli Army Radio confirmed today, Wednesday, that 215 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards the north since the morning hours, following Israel’s assassination of a senior Hezbollah commander last night.
Israeli media mentioned that the alarm sirens in Galilee (northern Israel) have been continuously sounding, amid reports of more than 100 rockets being fired from southern Lebanon towards Safed, Tiberias, and their surroundings.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that it targeted several launch platforms from which rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel.
This escalation follows Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah fighters, including a senior commander (Tareq Sami Abdullah “Hajj Abu Tareq”), by targeting an inhabited house in the town of Jouaya in deep southern Lebanon with three rockets last night, Tuesday.
In response, the head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, Hashem Safieddine, vowed to escalate operations against Israel in retaliation for the assassination of the prominent military leader.
Hezbollah announced today the execution of more than 11 operations targeting Israeli military sites, a specialized military industrial factory, the headquarters of the Northern Corps, its reserve headquarters, and the headquarters of the Air Surveillance Unit.
