Our correspondent reported that air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv today, Sunday, for the first time in several months, causing panic and concern among the city’s residents. This alert followed a large rocket barrage launched by the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, targeting Tel Aviv and several other Israeli cities.
In a statement, the Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for the rocket attack, stating that it was a response to what they described as “Israeli massacres” against Palestinian civilians. The Brigades confirmed that they had fired a significant number of rockets at Tel Aviv in retaliation for the recent Israeli escalation.
The sirens were not limited to Tel Aviv; they also sounded in areas such as Kfar Saba, Herzliya, Sufin, and Petah Tikva. Residents in these areas reported hearing explosions and seeing plumes of smoke rising in the distance, heightening fears of potential damage and casualties.
Israeli authorities quickly activated emergency protocols, with rescue and civil defense teams dispatched to the potential impact sites to assess damage and provide immediate assistance to citizens. Authorities also advised residents to remain in shelters and secure rooms until the situation was declared safe.
