The “Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization” expressed its opposition to the reception of an Israeli warship at the Port of Tangier, located 45 kilometers northeast of Tangier city and 15 kilometers north of the Spanish coast.
In a statement issued on its Facebook account, the organization expressed its discontent with “the lack of response from the Moroccan state,” noting that the Israeli warship “INS Komemiyut,” which is currently waging an unrelenting war on the Gaza Strip, docked at the Port of Tangier on June 6 to refuel and resupply before continuing its journey to the Port of Haifa.
The organization also expressed dissatisfaction with the Moroccan authorities for not taking steps similar to those taken by Spain, which refused the passage of the Israeli ship through its waters. On May 19, Madrid prevented the docking of the cargo ship “Marianne Danica,” which was coming from India loaded with weapons destined for Israel, at one of its ports.
Additionally, the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization considered the reception of the Israeli warship to be a violation of the International Court of Justice’s ruling following a lawsuit brought by South Africa against Israel. They indicated that “this issue will be prominently featured in the upcoming demonstrations organized by the front, particularly in the city of Tangier.”
