Several Arab countries, including Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Lebanon, and Yemen, have announced the non-sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. This means that tomorrow, Tuesday, will mark the completion of the blessed month of Ramadan, and consequently, Wednesday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
In separate statements, the relevant authorities in these countries have declared the date of Eid al-Fitr. Qatar’s news agency clarified that the Committee for Moon Sighting at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, will be the completion of the month of Ramadan, and the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, will be the first day of Eid alFitr.
Similarly, the Egyptian Fatwa House confirmed Wednesday as the first day of Eid, while the Royal Court in Saudi Arabia issued a statement indicating that Wednesday will be the first day of Eid.
In a similar context, other countries such as the UAE, Lebanon, and Yemen have announced the same date for Eid al-Fitr.
This Eid comes amidst tragic circumstances in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing war since October 2023, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties and immense destruction of infrastructure and vital facilities, dampening the joy of the holiday in this region.
