Several parts of the Arabian Peninsula are experiencing an extreme heatwave, with temperatures potentially reaching 50 degrees Celsius in several countries.
The “Arab Weather” platform in Saudi Arabia indicated that a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is expected to intensify over the region gradually by the end of this week. This will coincide with the deepening of a surface thermal low in the eastern Arabian Peninsula, leading to rising temperatures.
“Arab Weather” predicts a significant temperature increase by the end of this week in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE, with temperatures expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius in most areas. Temperatures may reach 50 degrees Celsius in several parts of Iraq, Kuwait, and eastern Saudi Arabia.
The platform warned of the anticipated heatwave, advising people to avoid sun exposure during daylight hours and to drink plenty of cold fluids and beverages throughout the day and even at night.
