The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the killing of Hani Al-Ja’frawi, the Director of the Ambulance and Emergency Unit in Gaza, due to an Israeli airstrike targeting the Daraj Clinic in northeast Gaza.
In a statement, the ministry said: “The Ministry of Health, represented by Undersecretary Yousef Abu Al-Rish and all its staff, proudly and honorably mourns its martyr, Hani Al-Ja’frawi, the Director of Ambulance and Emergency in Gaza, who, along with his fellow paramedics, demonstrated steadfastness, determination, and sacrifice while performing their humanitarian duty of evacuating the wounded and the martyrs around the clock despite the Israeli shelling and threats, which disregard all international conventions and treaties.”
The ministry added: “The Ministry of Health, along with all health service providers, affirms its determination to continue its humanitarian medical duty despite the systematic targeting and direct killing that has so far affected 500 health workers and led to the arrest of more than 310 others in harsh and inhumane conditions.”
In its statement, the Ministry of Health reiterated its call to the international community and its humanitarian and rights institutions to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, protect the health system and its staff, and hold the Israeli enemy accountable for the crimes of genocide against our people and the deliberate killing of health and humanitarian workers.
Earlier on Sunday evening, the General Directorate of Civil Defense stated that “civil defense crews recovered two martyrs working for the Ministry of Health, with several others injured, following an Israeli airstrike targeting the Daraj Clinic ‘Al-Bandar’ in central Gaza City.”
