The French Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the military operation conducted by the Israeli army in the Rafah area on May 7 and strongly called for an immediate cessation of this operation and a return to the negotiation table.
According to the statement issued by the French Foreign Ministry on the “X” platform, this operation poses a serious threat to the safety of civilian populations in the Gaza Strip, who are already living in difficult humanitarian conditions.
The French Foreign Ministry emphasized the necessity of immediately opening the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian side to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged population in Gaza and to allow the most vulnerable individuals to leave the area in emergency situations.
As part of its call for compliance with the principles of international law, the French Foreign Ministry urged the Israeli authorities to make greater efforts to protect civilians and to refrain from excessive use of force, in accordance with the rulings of the International Court of Justice.
The statement concluded with a strong condemnation of the attacks carried out by Israeli settlers on a Jordanian humanitarian convoy on May 7, calling for an end to this violence.
