German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock: “The escalation of tensions in the Middle East does not serve anyone’s interests, and Israel’s security is the most vulnerable.”
According to Reuters, the German Foreign Minister said on Thursday during her discussions with Israeli officials that her country should not allow the Middle East to head towards an unknown and unpredictable situation.
Baerbock emphasized before leaving the occupied territories to participate in a meeting of the Group of Seven countries that in the current circumstances, everyone must act with caution and responsibility.
The German Foreign Minister, who is making her seventh visit to the occupied territories since the beginning of the war in Gaza, added: “The escalation of tensions does not serve anyone’s interests, and the greatest danger is to Israel.”
Western countries, including the United States, Germany, and France, have requested that the Zionist entity refrain from responding to the Iranian attack in order to avoid further escalation of tensions.
According to the Iranian news agency, Iran has carried out a series of military attacks against military targets in the occupied territories, based on legitimate self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in response to repeated military aggressions by the Zionist entity, including the military attack on their diplomatic site on April 1, 2024, which was a clear violation of international law and Article 2 of the United Nations Charter. Following the Security Council’s failure to take necessary measures to condemn and hold the aggressor accountable, the brave forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard launched military attacks on important military targets of the Zionist terrorist army in the occupied territories and successfully destroyed them.
Iran has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to the goals and principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, but it will not hesitate to use legitimate self-defense under international law when necessary.
