Reports from Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society raise public concern about the conditions of political detainees in Hidd Prison, revealing a state of severe deprivation of their basic rights.
According to the report, detainees are subjected to years of imprisonment without receiving visits or the possibility of communication with the outside world, placing them in complete isolation.
Furthermore, the association highlights the shortage of drinking water within the prison, where detainees are deprived of access for long hours daily, in addition to being prohibited from purchasing it from the prison store.
The reports unveil frequent inspection campaigns conducted by the management of Hidd Prison, imposing strict restrictions on detainees, including reducing communication times and sunlight periods, with preference given to detainees of specific nationalities.
The report also sheds light on the complexities of communal living within the prison, where detainees are forced to share rooms with non-Muslims, leading to additional tension due to religious differences.
Calls are renewed by the families of detainees for a comprehensive international investigation to ensure the provision of basic rights for prisoners, urging international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to alleviate their suffering within Hidd Prison.
