Settlers Continue Protesting in Tel Aviv, Blocking Roads in Protest Against Benjamin Netanyahu’s Government
Protesting settlers blocked Road 40 near the Magshimim Junction east of Tel Aviv on Monday, in protest against Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, according to Israel’s Channel 7.
While a group of settlers, including families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, are demonstrating, demanding a prisoner exchange deal, the Haredim are protesting against the Israeli Supreme Court’s decision to draft them into the army.
Since Sunday night and until dawn today, thousands of Haredim settlers have protested in occupied Jerusalem against being compelled to serve in the Israeli army, also raising slogans against Netanyahu.
Clashes broke out between the protesters (more than 25,000 Haredim from various sects took part in the protests) and the occupation police, who attacked them using violence, along with mounted units, while they were blocking the intersection of Israeli Ministers Street and Kings of Israel Street, and began gathering and burning garbage bins.
During these demonstrations, the car of the Minister of Construction and Housing in the occupation government, Yitzhak Goldknopf, was attacked by protesters who surrounded and attacked the vehicle.
