The ceasefire resolution in Gaza was finally approved on Monday, March 25, 2024, after nearly six months of war, at the United Nations Security Council, which called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan.

The United Nations Security Council approved the ceasefire resolution in Gaza, but failed to amend the resolution draft to include the phrase “permanent ceasefire”.

According to this report, the United States did not exercise its veto power against this ceasefire resolution draft, but abstained from voting on it.

Before adopting the resolution, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations called for the inclusion of the phrase “permanent ceasefire” in the draft.

The resolution also emphasized the need to increase aid to Gaza and remove all obstacles to the delivery of aid.

The resolution pointed to the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan, with an emphasis that it should be permanent and stable.

The resolution also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli prisoners in resistance prisons, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
