French authorities have prevented British-Palestinian surgeon Ghassan Abu Sitta from entering France, where he was supposed to deliver a speech at the French Senate.
In a tweet, Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta, who serves as the dean of the University of Glasgow in Scotland, confirmed that he had received a notification from French authorities stating that he is prohibited from entering European Union countries based on a ban issued by Germany.
Surgeon Ghassan Abu Sitta intended to participate in a parliamentary conference on “France’s Responsibility in Implementing International Law in Palestine.” However, a Schengen area entry ban document prevented him from reaching Paris.
In his response to the situation, Abu Sitta described the action as “shameful,” urging the French Interior Minister to clarify the reasons behind this decision.
French lawmakers expressed their dismay over the decision to prevent Dr. Abu Sitta from entering, emphasizing the importance of his testimony regarding the situation in Gaza. They described the incident as “disgraceful” and “shameful.”
It is worth mentioning that earlier, both Ghassan Abu Sitta and former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis were denied entry into Germany to attend the “Palestinian Conference” in Berlin, under the pretext of preventing any anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli propaganda.
