In Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with the political bureau chief of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and his accompanying delegation to discuss the current developments in the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, which has been under continuous attacks by Israel.

The meeting focused on several issues, including the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the necessity of releasing prisoners, providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the strip, and addressing the dire conditions there.

During the meeting, the Turkish president reaffirmed his country’s commitment to diplomatic efforts to draw international attention to the injustices suffered by the Palestinians, emphasizing that Israel will bear the consequences of its violations against them.

Both sides stressed the importance of achieving unity among the Palestinians to confront current challenges, noting that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a fundamental pillar for achieving peace in the region.

Meanwhile, the director of the government media office in Gaza reported that more than two-thirds of the casualties of Israeli airstrikes are women and children, with confirmation that the occupying forces have executed hundreds of medical personnel during the recent events.
