The Bahraini regime launches its economic vision 2050 amid popular discontent, while nothing has been achieved from the 2030 vision so far. Here are the details.

A new economic vision for the Bahraini economy in 2050 is on the horizon, while the 2030 vision still raises significant question marks.

Prince Salman bin Hamad has issued directives to initiate consultations with the legislative authority, the private sector, professional associations, and civil society institutions to launch the 2050 vision. The assessments and expectations of both the government and the people regarding the implications of the future vision have varied. While the government believes that the anticipated vision will place Bahrain among advanced countries, Bahrainis have a different opinion, especially due to their previous experience with the 2030 vision, which failed to address the escalating crises in the country.

Jawad Feroz, the head of the “Salam” organization, claimed that any national vision in Bahrain would not have a chance of success without including plans and programs aimed at the three basic structures. These structures, according to Feroz, include sustainable development, as well as sustainable political reform and development, and the protection of public rights and freedoms.

On the other hand, Majid Milad, a Member of the General Secretariat of Al-Wefaq Society, mocked the regime’s announcement of surpassing the achievements of the 2030 vision’s specified goals, pointing out that the goal of the 2030 vision was to employ twenty thousand Bahrainis, but the state employed more than twenty-nine thousand, scoffing that this number should end the unemployment crisis. Meanwhile, Youssef Al Khaja, a leader in the Wa’ad Society, mocked this announcement, saying that Bahrainis have finished achieving the 2030 vision without feeling it.

Emphasizing the failure of the 2030 vision to achieve any accomplishment and, on the contrary, brought losses to the country, the political opponent Fadel Abbas pointed out that the unemployment rate has risen to 10%, and added that McLaren cars were rescued from bankruptcy.

At the same time, citizens ridiculed the 2050 vision on social media platforms, considering that the previous vision blinded the people, and it seems that the new vision will paralyze them, according to their expression.

Meanwhile, some individuals questioned the achievements that were accomplished in the 2030 vision before the government begins to set a new vision, while others pointed out the importance for the government to focus on the main challenges it faced during the previous vision and evaluate their impact on the main goal, which is to improve the living standards of citizens.
