In a new escalation between Israel and Lebanon, Israeli occupation forces intensified their shelling of towns in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. This shelling comes in the aftermath of Hezbollah targeting a building used by occupation soldiers in the settlement of Al-Matla, resulting in the death of two soldiers.
Reports indicated that Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on the outskirts of the towns of Aita al-Shaab and Ramia, as well as Mount Bala in southern Lebanon. Additionally, a rocket was reportedly launched from southern Lebanon towards an Israeli occupation site in the town of Al-Matla, prompting sirens to sound in several towns there.
According to the official Lebanese news agency, Israeli warplanes conducted 18 airstrikes on Mount Bala and the outskirts of the towns of Ramia and Beit Lif in the central sector, in addition to a series of airstrikes on the outskirts of Aita al-Shaab and the forested area between it and the town of Ramia.
Reports indicated that the attacks caused significant damage to properties, infrastructure, and surrounding homes. Furthermore, the outskirts of the towns of Rmeish and Ramia were subjected to heavy machine gun fire from Israeli positions near the Blue Line.
In a related context, Israeli artillery targeted the vicinity of the towns of Kafr Shuba and Kafr Hamam in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, while Beirut witnessed intensified reconnaissance flights by Israeli surveillance aircraft.
This escalation comes in the wake of a Hezbollah-claimed attack using drones targeting a gathering of Israeli occupation forces near the town of Al-Matla, resulting in the death of two soldiers.
