In light of the recent tragic events in Gaza, the wave of criticism continues over the international community’s neglect of women’s suffering in the region.
In this context, Yahya AlHadid, the head of the Gulf Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, made sharp statements regarding the international failure to address the heinous crimes committed by the occupying entity against women in Gaza.
Yahya AlHadid described the global silence on these crimes as “tragic,” pointing out that women’s and human rights organizations have not appeared in the manner required to defend women’s rights in the besieged enclave. Al-Hadid drew attention to the disappearance of feminists and outspoken organizations who are accustomed to advocating for women’s issues in other parts of the world.
In his recent social media post, Al-Hadid questioned why the world responds to the hijab removal campaign in Iran while remaining silent about the humanitarian tragedy facing women in Gaza.
Yahya AlHadid also emphasized the need to revive the international conscience and stand by the victims, and to firmly address the serious human rights violations committed against women in conflict-affected and war-torn areas.
