U.S. Secretary of State affirmed that Saudi-Israeli normalization is closer than ever and that significant progress has been made in the talks.
Anthony Blinken stated in a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, in Cairo on Thursday: “We are approaching an agreement on Saudi-Israeli normalization, but a timeline cannot be determined for it, but we can say it is close.”
Blinken added that he was supposed to travel to the region on October 10th for this matter, and he emphasized that the current focus in normalization negotiations is on the Palestinian issue.
Blinken continued: “We have made significant progress over the past month, and there is still work to be done, but I believe it was real and good progress.”
Earlier, a U.S. State Department official said that there are only a few limited issues that need to be resolved for the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and the Zionist entity.
It is worth mentioning that Blinken met and spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Wednesday.
Among the topics discussed by both sides were “bilateral relations, areas of cooperation, and the latest regional and international developments, including the developments in Gaza.”
