The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted a military operation in the Red Sea targeting the American destroyer Mason and the ship Destiny using several naval missiles, which accurately hit their targets.
In a statement released today, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the armed forces announced another operation carried out in coordination with the naval forces, the missile force, and the drone air force. The statement confirmed that the target was the ship Destiny, which was accurately hit.
The Yemeni Armed Forces clarified that the attack was due to the ship violating the ban on the passage of vessels heading to occupied Palestinian ports.
They stated that the ship had headed to the port of Eilat on April 20, using deception and camouflage tactics, claiming to be heading to another port, but it was under continuous surveillance.
The statement pointed out that despite warnings given to the ship not to enter occupied Palestinian ports, it insisted on violating the ban, making it a target for the Yemeni Armed Forces and prohibited from sailing in their operational area.
The Yemeni Armed Forces affirmed that they would continue these operations until the blockade is lifted and the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza is stopped. They added that these operations are supported by the Yemeni people and all the free people of the nation, in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and in defense of dear Yemen.
