Zainab Khamees, the head of the Monitoring and Documentation Committee at the Bahrain Human Rights Society, reported that the released political detainees have not received any response from Fatima Al-Manai, the Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Services, regarding the housing allowance, despite sending a letter containing the names of those affected.
Khamees explained that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning halted the disbursement of the housing allowance to political detainees during their imprisonment, highlighting that this decision negatively impacted their families, not just the detainees themselves.
The head of the Monitoring and Documentation Committee conveyed the demands of the released detainees under the royal amnesty decree, who called for the retroactive reinstatement of the housing allowance, deeming its suspension unjustified.
Khamees also urged the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna Al-Rumaihi, to consider the circumstances of these detainees and to provide the necessary support to them and their families.
